It's all going pear shaped in Monmouthshire. Food & Craft producers from Monmouthshire will join together to celebrate the Perry Pear Orchards and the produce made and inspired by them. Restuarants and chefs are invited to develop new Pear based menus and specialist dishes to feature at their establishments and showcase at the festival. Local children and families will be encouraged to investigate the natural flora and fauna linked to the ancient orchards and the benefits of new orchards to wildlife and the local rural economy.

Most of our walks go into the hills. Participants are reminded that the following gear must be taken: walking boots, rucksack, hat, gloves, warm clothing (not jeans!), spare sweater, water and a hot drink, lunch, extra food and of course, waterproof jacket and trousers. A whistle and torch should be carried, particularly during the winter months. Participants must satisfy themselves that the walk is suitable for their abilities. You can take advice, by ringing the walks leader whose telephone number is given. No liability will be accepted for loss or injury that occurs as a result of taking part. An adult must accompany young people (under18).

Since being taken over by the Rotary Club of Abergavenny the town`s Steam Veteran & Vintage Rally has gone from strength to strength. By widening the base of the two day event it now offers something for everyone. As well as the mighty giants of steam, the show now boast a children`s playground with old fashioned rides, a food village, rural crafts and handicrafts, a wealth of stands selling everything from auto & agricultural jumble to garden plants and the latest `must have` for the house.
